MAYWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT

On October 26, 2018, the Maywood Police Department arrested Joseph Derissio, 21, of Wayne and Elijah Navarro, 21, of Maywood for burglary and theft related charges.

 

The Maywood Police Department received a report of two motor vehicle burglaries and thefts that occurred overnight on October 7, 2018 in the parking lot of Lydecker Manor, located at 150 East Passaic Street. The suspects stole numerous personal items and currency from the motor vehicles.

 

Subsequent investigation by the Maywood Police Department’s Detective Bureau in conjunction with the Rochelle Park Police Department’s Detective Bureau and information received from other police agencies led to Derissio and Navarro being charged with two counts of burglary to a motor vehicle and two counts of theft of movable property. They were also charged by the Rochelle Park Police Department and the Hackensack Police Department on additional burglary and theft related charges. Derissio was lodged in the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail. Navarro was released on his own recognizance pending his future appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
