GYM LOCKER THEFT ARRESTS

On December 5, 2018, the Maywood Police Department arrested Lennard Murphy, 30, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, Gary Washington, 25, of Bowie, Maryland, Marchael Clements, 24, of Bowie, Maryland, and Nichole Thomas, 42, of Washington D.C, for Burglary, Theft, Possession of Burglary Tools, Tampering with Evidence and Fraud.
MAYWOOD RESIDENT ARRESTED FOR DRUG DISTRIBUTION

On September 20, 2018, the Maywood Police Department arrested Salvatore Ferriolo, 22, of Maywood for Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Hash Oil with Intent to Distribute, Possession of over 50 Grams of Marijuana, Possession of THC Edibles and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
THREE ARRESTED AFTER ROBBERY

On May 30, 2018 at approximately 2048 hours, a Maywood resident reported he was robbed by three males at his residence. P.O. Mulawka and P.O. Patton responded and began the initial investigation. Det. Parodi also responded to the scene to assist. Information obtained was relayed to the New Milford Police Department, who was able to locate and place one suspect identified as Edward D. Chrystaline Jr., 20, of New Milford under arrest in connection to this incident. The New Milford PD was also able to recover the victim’s stolen items.
THREE ARRESTED OUTSIDE POST OFFICE FOR MAILBOX FISHING

On Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 0208 hours, Officer Brian Rubio checked three suspicious males standing outside the Maywood Post Office on West Pleasant Avenue. An on scene investigation revealed that the males were in possession of several stolen checks and unopened pieces of mail.

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of ROLAND F. WEIGEL (DOB: 03/12/1933; widower; retired) of 66 Harwich Street, Maywood, New Jersey on a charge of Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of NICHOLAS A. BENCZE (DOB: 09/08/1981; married; and unemployed) of Maywood, New Jersey, on the charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Possession of Child Pornography, and Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substances.
BURGLAR ARRESTED AFTER REMOVING COPPER PIPING FROM HOUSE

On August 23, 2017 at approximately 1829 hours, Lt. Mark Gillies and P.O. Greg Mulawka responded to a report of a suspicious male party on a bicycle. Patrol located the male party, identified as Shawn Todd, 46, of Hackensack carrying a Dewalt drill and numerous pieces of cut copper piping.
STOLEN MOTOR VEHICLE PURSUIT ARRESTS

At approximately 0224 hours on Thursday, June 21, 2018, Officer William Phayre and Officer Michael McMahon were on patrol when they observed a red, 2002 Jeep Liberty attempting to enter Route 17 North the wrong way via the exit ramp at Essex Street. Officer Phayre and Officer McMahon conducted a license plate inquiry on the Jeep Liberty at which time they received an alert that the vehicle was stolen from Garfield earlier that evening. The officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The Jeep Liberty failed to yield to their patrol vehicle and attempted to flee the area northbound on Route 17.

On Monday, April 2, 2018 at 0303 hours, Officer Greg Mulawka checked two suspicious males on bicycles near the Maywood Post Office located on West Pleasant Avenue. On scene investigation revealed that the males, one adult and one juvenile, were in possession of several stolen checks and numerous pieces of mail.
RESIDENT CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT & CHILD ENDANGERMENT

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of PHILLIP CERONE (DOB: 5/20/1990, single; and employed as a teacher’s aide) of 854 Lincoln Avenue, Maywood, New Jersey on charges of Sexual Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Maywood Police Department under the direction of Chief David Pegg.
